pregnant woman

When you are pregnant, it is quite obvious that you will gain weight. You are eating for two after all. Most women gain around 25lbs when they are pregnant. After having the baby, you may struggle to lose weight. You just need a little motivation to get you going towards getting an amazing body after pregnancy.

Get motivated.

Many women have different motivators. You may want to show your family that you have healthy eating habits, so they will have the same. Your healthy may begin to matter more to you as you now have children you want to watch grow up. You may want to be better fit so you can keep up with your kids. Going through your closet realizing none of your pre-pregnancy clothes are fitting can also give you a boost. Whatever your motivation may be, hold onto it and use it to help you on your journey to lose weight after you’ve had your baby.

Put your motivation into action.

Many women turn to Weight Watchers. While Weight Watchers is a great program that will teach you a lot, you can get the same results for less money. Pick up a few workout DVD’s. You can do them during nap time. Find something that you think will work for you. Some women choose Tae Bo. Others choose Yoga. A new set of workout DVD’s are the P90X. What you choose is up to you as you know what will be something you can stick to.

If you get a chance to get out of the house, you can use your time to help you lose weight too. You can put your baby in the stroller and go for a walk. Maybe you enjoy playing some summertime sports like tennis. In the evening maybe you can go for a short jog. You want to remain active to help yourself lose weight.

Aside from staying active, what you eat is also going to help. Be sure to stay away from the junk food you craved during pregnancy. Eat fresh and homemade foods as they are much better for you. Foods of convenience are generally high in fat and calories. You want to take in a lot of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dairy, and protein. However, even when you are eating healthy it is still important to practice portion control. Too much of anything can make you gain weight.

If you remain active, eat nutritional foods, and practice portion control; you will be on your way to losing your baby weight. Before you know it you will have an amazing body. You will fit into your pre-pregnancy clothes in no time. Maybe you’ll even be smaller than you were before pregnancy. Keep your goals in mind and work towards them.

ice cream

When it comes to summertime, everyone’s favorite summertime treat seems to be ice cream. This can prove to be a big issue if you’re looking to get fit and stay that way. Ice cream is very high in calories. Therefore, if you want to satisfy your ice cream cravings this summer, you will have to find some low-calorie options.

The biggest thing you will have to learn in staying fit is portion control. With ice cream, you will have to do your best to stay under 200 calories. This can be difficult as many ice creams are very high in caloric content. It’s the butterfat and sugar that gives ice cream it’s high calorie count.

Luckily, there are frozen treats out there that have found a way to cut the calories. These frozen treats have cut the cream and have added thickeners that give the illusion of it containing the high content of cream. Low-fat frozen treats that are low in calories have also replaced the sugar with artificial sweeteners.

You have some different options when you are trying to choose a low-fat frozen treat that is also low in calories. You can find a low-fat, low-calorie ice cream. Breyers as well as Haagen Dazs offers some good choices of low-fat, low-calorie ice cream. They range in calories from 130 to 220 with only 5 grams of fat, which is much better than your regular ice cream. You can also try goat’s milk ice cream, which only contains around 160 calories and 6 grams of fat. Frozen yogurt is another option, which only contains 200 calories and 3 grams of fat. Lastly, you can also indulge in sorbet that only contains 100 calories and 0 grams of fat.

As you can see, you can still satisfy your craving for a sweet, frozen treat. There are several alternative options available to you. If you’re looking for the healthiest option, you should definitely give sorbet a try. It tastes good and has the least amount of calories and no fat content. You truly can’t go wrong.

Eat More, Lose More

ice water with lemon

If you’re looking to lose weight, you might be fooled by the common misconception that in order to lose weight you need to cut out snacks. This is not true. Instead, you should be eating smaller meals, but more times throughout the day. Generally, when we only eat three meals a day we tend to eat quite a bit at these three meals. So, instead of eating three large meals each day, you should eat six small meals each day.

Eating only three meals each day allows you to become hungrier before mealtime. That is why these meals are generally large meals. However, if you’re eating six small meals throughout the day then you aren’t necessarily waiting until you are hungry to eat. Being extremely hungry when you eat is why you eat so much when it is mealtime. You want to quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger before it starts.

As far as quenching your thirst is concerned, you don’t want to drink sugary energy drinks or soda. For one, they have at least 100 calories. For two, they don’t actually quench your thirst. They’re actually known for dehydrating you. So, you should actually stick to mainly drinking water. Water will satisfy your thirst and it has zero calories. However, if you’re someone who needs a little taste of something, feel free to squeeze a lemon or a lime into your water to add a little flavor.

If you’re someone who also wants to maintain a healthy weight, there is something you do every day that can help you. You don’t have to go to the gym or purchase gym equipment for use at home. All you have to do is walk. If you take 5,000 steps a day you will definitely be able to maintain a healthy weight. In order to keep track of how many steps you take, you can purchase a pedometer. Go for a short walk each night after dinner to try and walk off what you ate so-to-speak.

As you can see, just some simple adjustments can help you lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. Eat more times, but less in quantity throughout the day. You’ll still be satisfying your hunger, but instead of cramming it all into three large meals you’ll be stretching it out across six small meals. Drinking water will help to refresh you and quench your thirst. Walking will help you to stay active and maintain a healthy weight.

#12 Use Your Repressed Anger For Positive Release

July 9, 2011 by

running

Did you know that you can use your repressed anger to lose weight and become more fit? Instead of using your anger to be destructive, you can actually use it to your benefit. Don’t go punching walls and throwing things. Instead, channel your repressed anger into working out. Anger is energy; negative energy if it is used to be destructive. However, if you use this energy to work out, it can then be viewed as positive energy.

When you work out, you are releasing that energy. As you are working out, you are exerting your adrenaline. Running is one of the most common exercises you can do to exert repressed anger. If you’re not much of a runner, you can also go for a brisk walk. You can do many simple exercises without even going to a gym such as push ups, sit ups, and crunches. However, if you decide to take a few hours and go to the gym, you can use many different pieces of equipment. Some things you can try in a gym is a treadmill, stair stepper, elliptical machine, and many others.

Aside from working out, it will be important to form a diet that you can stick to. If you are still eating junk food while you’re working out, you will not be able to gain the full benefit you would if you followed a healthy diet as well. You want to eat healthy and take in a healthy amount of calories. However many calories is ideal for your body mass index and activity level, subtract 500 from that. That should be your daily calorie intake goal. This will help to keep your weight stable.

The great thing about working out to release your repressed anger is that as you are seeing results you will begin to feel much better about yourself. As you begin to feel better about yourself, it is possible that your anger will dissipate. Even if this does happen, you may want to continue on with a healthier lifestyle to prevent any future anger outbreaks.

#10 The Hidden Truths About Diet Soda

July 7, 2011 by

diet soda

There was a 9.5 year case study done on diet soda drinkers vs. regular soda drinkers. The end result of the study showed that those who drank diet soda had more of an increase in their waistline than those who drank regular soda. There was actually a 70 percent difference between the two. While researchers are still evaluating the results and studying the connection between drinking diet soda and an increase in waistline, there are few different theories that are currently developing.

The first possibility is that the artificial sweeteners, such as Splenda, are tricking the brain. When we are tasting sweetness, we expect it to be something that is high in calories. So, when that isn’t happening because we are drinking a diet soda that is low in calories, we overeat in order to get the rush of energy we were initially expecting.

There is also another theory on the subject of artificial sweeteners. This theory suggests that artificial sweeteners may be dulling the taste buds. Therefore, we in turn eat more flavorful foods that are loaded with calories. We do this in order to fulfill our cravings.

However, before the blame as a whole for the larger waist lines is put on diet soda, the diets of those involved in the research need to be evaluated. Many people choose to drink diet soda because they are aware of the fact that their diet is not the greatest. Many times, people will match their choice of a diet soda with a fast food meal. Those who do this are under the impression that the diet soda will help to even things out. If this is what many of those researched are doing, then diet soda is not to blame; their diet is.

Many people are under the impression that diet soda is the healthier choice just because it is free or low in calories. However, this is a common misconception. Although there aren’t the calories found in regular soda, there also aren’t any nutrients. Further research needs to be done, but there is a possibility that diet soda may increase blood glucose levels. This is a diabetes risk factor. This information comes from a research test that was performed on rats where they were fed a high-fat diet with aspartame, an artificial sweetener. They showed higher blood glucose levels than those fed just a high-fat diet. However, more research needs to be done before these results can be compared to humans.

Although drinking diet soda may not be the leading factor to an increase in waist lines, drinking it may not be wise while trying to exercise a healthier lifestyle. You can replace your daily soda intake with something healthier such as water, green tea, or seltzer water. Seltzer water can satisfy your carbonation craving. If you’re unable to give up soda entirely, try to limit yourself to just one or two a day.
